What is a VIN?

To ensure the safety of our customers, Hyundai Motor America is conducting Safety Recall 229 to repair a condition involving the Seat Belt Pretensioner in certain 2020 - 2022 model year Accent, 2021 - 2022 Elantra, and 2021 - 2022 Elantra HEV vehicles. 

This Safety Recall expands and replaces the previous Hyundai Recalls 211, 219, 220, and 223 (NHTSA Recall 21V-796. 22V-069, 22V-218, and 22V-123). Hyundai Accent, Elantra, and Elantra HEV vehicles that completed any of the previous recalls will need to have the new remedy repair completed.

What will Hyundai do?

Your Hyundai dealer will install front seat belt pretensioner anti-separation protection caps. This procedure will be performed at NO CHARGE to you.

The actual time required to perform this procedure on your vehicle will take less than one hour, however, your vehicle may be needed longer. To avoid inconveniences, Hyundai recommends scheduling an appointment in advance with your preferred Hyundai dealer.
