    No. Service Campaign 966 is not a recall. This is a product improvement campaign to install KSDS on certain eligible vehicles. The KSDS software is designed to detect abnormal engine bearing noise before potentially severe engine damage occurs. Certain vehicles eligible for KSDS are subject to Hyundai Recalls 198 and 209.   • What does KSDS stand for?

  • What is KSDS?

    KSDS adds a layer of protection against engine malfunction caused by connecting rod bearing malfunction, which notifies you via dashboard warning lights and places the vehicle into a reduced power, engine protection mode.

  • Why is KSDS important to me?

    The technology uses software innovations and leverages existing engine sensors to continuously monitor for symptoms that may precede an engine malfunction. Having this software installed will help protect your vehicle against engine malfunction.

  • Do I need 966 KSDS completed to qualify for the warranty extension?

    Generally, yes. Completing KSDS under Campaign 966 is a pre-requisite for the Warranty Extension TXXM. Owners of vehicles subject to Hyundai Recalls 198 and 209 are not required to complete the KSDS update to obtain the warranty extension but are strongly encouraged to obtain KSDS free of charge.
