  • What is the problem?

    When prompted by a transmission high-pressure electric oil pump malfunction while driving, the vehicle’s “fail-safe” limited-mobility drive mode may be impaired, resulting in illumination of multiple warning lights and approximately 20 – 30 seconds of normal drive power, followed by a complete loss of drive power due to disengagement of the transmission clutches and drive gears.

    A loss of motive power while driving at high speeds could increase the risk of a crash.

    To date, Hyundai is not aware of any confirmed crashes or injuries related to this condition in the U.S. or Canada.

    Yes, a “stop sale” has been issued in accordance with federal regulation for affected vehicles unsold at Hyundai dealers.

Information on the Recall Remedy

  • When will owners be notified of the remedy repair for this Safety Recall?

    Owners will be notified via first class mail by February 2023 if not sooner, of a remedy available and instructions to bring their vehicles to a Hyundai dealer. Hyundai previously notified owners in Decemeber 2022 of a remedy not available.

  • What will be done during the recall remedy service at the dealer?

    Your Hyundai dealer will perform a software update for the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) to revise the logic on the drivability conditions and “fail safe” driving capability. In cases where the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1C2D03 is on, your dealer will inspect the transmission and replace it, if necessary.

  • Is the remedy repair free?

    Yes, the remedy repair will be offered at no cost to affected owners.

  • What if I paid for repairs related to this Safety Recall?

    Hyundai will provide owners of affected vehicles reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses incurred to obtain a remedy for the recall condition.
